Responsibilities

  • Development of fermentation-based production technologies for new and existing products as technical expert / project leader
  • Generation of holistic process concepts to meet customer needs, translation into working plans for experimental lab work (focus USP), evaluation, interpretation and documentation
  • Establish models in order to accomplish project goals in a structured and efficient manner (e.g. kinetic; cost; heat & mass)
  • Technology ownership: from lab development to scale-up into industrial scale and continuous improvement
  • Communication and presentation of results to stakeholders
  • Monitoring state of the art of competitors and the scientific community as well as proactive competence development
  • Know-how protection through patent management and publications

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university degree in biotechnology, chemical or bioprocess engineering or related disciplines, PhD degree is advantageous
  • Professional experience in industrial biotechnology, especially in the field of process development / optimization up to large scale is of advantage
  • Ability to manage process development integrating multiple disciplines (e.g. strain design, product isolation, product manufacture) in cross function/site teams
  • Good command on IT tools to integrate and analyze data formats / large volumes originating from different assets (lab, production)
  • Very good skills in English, written as well as spoken and the willingness to quickly acquire German skills (if necessary)
  • Excellent communication skills in the context of project and stakeholder management
  • Independent, team-oriented and committed way of working
  • Willingness to travel (inter)nationally to stakeholders and production sites
