We are recruiting for a hardworking Field Applications Scientist (FAS) to join our Sequencing team. You are based in or around Regensburg, Germany.
As FAS, you will provide scientific expertise, application support and training to customers with a focus on our Sanger Sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing products through a variety of interfaces including in-person, phone and email communications. You will act as a trusted specialist to our customers, thereby growing customer satisfaction and loyalty, resulting in a contribution to the overall success of the business.

What will you do?
- Provide independently on-site and remote scientific application & training support on products.
- Perform product demonstrations at customer or company site.
- Prepare and present seminars to a wide array of audiences.
- Tackle customer issues optimally through in-depth troubleshooting.
- Provide technical and application assistance in response to customer inquiries.
- Play a major role when introducing and supporting new products and applications.
- Train and support other departments on new products and applications.
- Continuously update scientific knowledge for support of customers, sales and service on innovative technology.
- Communicate optimally within the team to improve others’ knowledge.
- Support the organization in the achievement of the regional commercial, service and support goals.
- Support sales in the achievement of their target by delivering product line specific pre- and post-sales related customer support activities.
Education
- MSc and/or PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related scientific field
- Experience in the field of Sanger Sequencing, this role however will be a 50%-50% split between both technologies, CE and NGS.
- Several years of laboratory experience to include expertise in sequencing techniques and application background.
- Present technical materials in written and verbal form.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
- Strong analytical ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
- Customer minded with the compassion to understand customer concerns and needs.
- Good commercial insight and demeanor required.
- Self-directed, persistent, and goal-oriented.
- Strong communications skills.
- Great teammate, able to work effectively with a diverse population of internal and external contacts.
- Proficient in German and English.
- Valid driver’s license required
- This is a field-based role and, when safe to do so, will involve regular weekly travel (3 -4 days per week), including occasional overnight stays, to meet with your customers in your territory and help team members, if needed within Central Europe. When not travelling, you will be able to work from home.
