Our customers are shaping the future of automotive embedded systems with the vision and team of innovative, dedicated, smart, hardware and software developers who passionate about creating extraordinary automotive solutions. The solutions range from small footprint ECU software up through the most advanced applications in ADAS, Infotainment, Hardware Engineering and Automotive Audio. The company specializes in highly optimized in-vehicle solutions, focused in the area of BSP, audio, graphics, video and networking.
For the Automotive Business Unit (ABU) in our Villingen-Schwenningen office we are looking for a "Working Student or Intern (m/f/d) Remote Target Infrastructure using Intel NUC"
The ABU (Automotive Business Unit) remote test infrastructure relies on devices called Test Controllers, which basically consist of a Raspberry Pi equipped with a relay board. Thanks to these devices it is possible to remotely control target devices and perform automated tests. It has happened several times in the past that the applications needed to flash the boards are only available for processors with x86 architectures. In other cases, the resources available on a Raspberry Pi are not sufficient. The purpose of this internship is to create an alternative test setup based on the x86 architecture. An Intel NUC shall be used as a board and a USB relay controller as a relay board. The operating system shall be Linux. It shall be possible to control the NUC and the relays using the same web interface developed for theTest Controllers. It shall also be possible to run the already available automated tests started by TestLink (test management tool) or Jenkins (build automation tool) on the Intel NUC board in a totally transparent way (same interface as the Raspberry pi based Test Controllers).
Note: One of the big advantages of having a solution based on Intel NUC is that it can be ported without changes to ordinary laptops. In this way, old x86 laptops or workstations can be added to our test infrastructure.
Your area of responsibility - exciting and with a view into the future
- Select a suitable USB relay controller (like the already available KMTronic relay controller).
- Create/configure a Linux image (Ubuntu 20.4 (generic part) + Docker container (network and peripheral configuration)) for the NUC board and put all the scripts and configuration files that are necessary to create it under version control in Bitbucket. It shall be possible to reproduce the image and install it on other NUC boards.
- Adapt the scripts that create the web interface for the Intel NUC.
- Create the necessary scripts to control the relays.
- Connect an Intel NUC based Test Controller to a target device used in one of the ongoing projects and demonstrate that the same automated tests that work for Raspberry Pi based Test Controllers can be run successfully.
- Document how to set up and use the new NUC based Test Controller in Confluence.
- Interest in Embedded devices
- Interest in Linux
- Interest in Raspberry Pi
- Interest in Intel NUC
- Interest in Docker containers
- Interest in Python
- Interest in test automation
