The Smart Manufacturing Sprint Team Engineer will transform the way we work. The focus of this role will be to develop and drive projects amid the BoZ Smart Manufacturing Lighthouse portfolio. These technology projects will deliver advanced process controls and automation, deploy advanced process analytics, develop new tools to enable digitalized work processes, and ensure a strong digital foundation is built and sustained in the Lighthouse across Information Technology and Operations Technology capabilities. The Smart Manufacturing Sprint Team Engineer will deliver these projects in alignment with the Bergen op Zoom Lighthouse program roadmap and in collaboration with both regional and local stakeholders.
The Sprint Team Engineer will drive these projects through detailed design, technology pilots and plant trials, project execution, startup and commissioning, value tracking and sustainment activities, and project closeout. Together with Operations and Manufacturing Excellence functional teams, you will be responsible to ensure Lighthouse technology successes are understood and captured in detail enabling rapid scaling across Cargill Starches Sweeteners and Texturizers globally.
This Sprint Team Engineer is expected to provide technical leadership and expertise in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes, controls, instruments, and equipment. In this role, you will focus on improving cost and value of existing products including but not limited to raw material utilization, optimization of ingredients, receipt of inputs, bulk loadout of products, and manufacturing/production processes. You will serve as a subject matter expert executing key projects and working cross-functionally across the organization to foster collaboration. You will be a key business contact with vendors and be a mentor to supporting team members.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead engineering projects or segments of larger capital projects in the testing and evaluation of new technologies to reduce cost or improve the value of existing products or processes.
- Utilize knowledge of products and processes to assess alternatives and understand broad implications of possible changes and to leverage cross functional expertise and apply best practices to solution identification.
- Evaluate new technology solutions and value optimization projects with considerations for experimental design and analysis using a science-based and data-driven approach.
- Establish clear deliverables for projects and utilize project charters, protocols, and project reports to effectively plan, execute, and document the work in a timely manner using project management skills and tools.
- Understand customer requirements and stakeholder expectations on projects and identify, maintain, and defend intellectual property opportunities as they arise.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of four years of related work experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of time if not located in Bergen op Zoom (up to 25% of time if in BoZ)
- Travel may be lower due to Covid-19 precautions early in the role.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
- Strong Project Management skills and experience managing a portfolio of projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in plant operations, process engineering, project engineering, process controls and automation, manufacturing technology, production excellence or related technical field.
- Experience in technologies that exist within Cargill Starches, Sweeteners, and Texturizers North America such as, but not limited to, corn wet milling, sweeteners, fermentation, steam generation, and compressed air generation/distribution, etc.
