Cellzome, a fully embedded part of GSK’s Functional Genomics department, is located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, a diverse and stimulating environment that provides a unique mixture of backgrounds and expertise. GSK and EMBL operate under a collaboration agreement enabling access to services and instrumentation at EMBL core facilities and are engaged in collaborations with research groups on campus. Cellzome provides an interdisciplinary working environment focusing on multiple omics technologies.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate Senior Scientist Omics (m/f/d) with expertise in biochemistry or molecular biology to join our omics team in the Genomic Sciences department at the Cellzome site in Heidelberg, Germany.
Working in close collaboration with colleagues in Metabolomics, Biochemistry and Mass Spectrometry, the successful candidate will:
- Contribute to the optimization and execution of integrated, scalable and automated workflows for mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics.
- Further contribute to the development and implementation of novel approaches in metabolomics and proteomics to characterize the mechanism of action of molecular targets in the context of oncology and immunology-related diseases.
- Applicants should hold a degree (B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent) or have completed vocational training in biochemistry, molecular biology or other relevant disciplines.
- Preferably several years of experience working in a biochemistry or biology laboratory environment
- Ideally hands-on experience in operating automation equipment and/or liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry systems.
- Good communicator and comfortable with working in teams
- Fluency in English (both written and oral)
