We are looking for a Finance & Controlling Manager for Germany (m/f/d) for our client Nike Deutschland GmbH as a temporary maternity cover.

Tasks

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Your work is centered around safeguarding accounting integrity and statutory & tax compliance, through maintaining sound accounting and closing processes, managing a strong finance and controlling team and cross-functional stakeholders, while driving continuous improvement of our processes, performance, quality, control and efficiency.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will be working with a team with base in Berlin performing the tasks and responsibilities described below:

  • Accountable for the integrity of the financial statements (both management reporting and US GAAP) of the country and ensuring its internal control framework
o Maintaining and analyzing financial records and reports, ensuring they are in accordance with corporate policies, local GAAP and US GAAP.

o Manages and monitors balance sheet health and underlying account reconciliations ensuring compliance with the reconciliation policy

o Providing ad hoc financial control analysis and reporting as needed, including in support of management decision making

  • Accountable for managing and monitoring the complete country accounting and close processes in a timely, accurate and complete manner
  • Accountable for the adherence to Group policies, standards and procedures, and to local statutory and tax regulations
  • Accountable for statutory and tax reporting and compliance
  • Accountable for managing audits with internal audit, public accounting and state auditors e.g. income tax, VAT, payroll tax, and maintaining good relations with these auditors
  • Accountable for effective integration and collaboration, and for building and fostering strong relationships between the local Nike accounting team and the remote finance teams in EMEA headquarter and Genpact, as well as with relevant business and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Being the local finance leader, being the bridge between business, local functions, EMEA HQ finance centers of excellence and the local finance & controlling team
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve end-to-end process optimization
o Initiates and drives continuous process and performance improvement to improve quality, control and efficiency

o Supports and drives local implementation of EMEA or globally initiated projects and initiatives (process improvement, automation, simplification)

o Participates in and contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures and other improvement/ transformational projects and initiatives

  • Initiates, supports and develops - in coordination with management - plans for optimizing processes and resources.
Requirements

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

In this role you will report to the EMEA Finance Controlling Director based at EMEA HQ in the Netherlands. You will be based in Berlin and manage a team of up to 3 direct reports and you will be working together with our finance centers of excellence in the EMEA Head Quarter, our accounting outsourcing partner as with the local business functions (Tax, Legal, Treasury).

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Finance and Accounting or likewise, professional qualification (eg CPA, CIA, ACCA) is a plus or qualification in progress.
  • Minimum of 8 years of extensive experience in accounting, as well as a minimum of 3 years of proven people management experience.
  • Good SAP knowledge
  • Strong intellect, results-oriented with a personal impact and a sense of urgency. Strong drive to make things happen and deliver meaningful progress and results
  • High integrity, transparency, authority, confidence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English), including meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives, issues and challenges. Ability to analyze challenges or underlying concerns, and develop effective issue resolution responses or elevation to higher management.
  • Ability to work independently but also to collaborate in a diverse group. Ability to lead and drive through influencing stakeholders
  • Embraces change in full; pro-actively drives change and process simplification/ optimization
  • Possesses team management and leadership skills in areas such as objective setting, delegating, coaching, mentoring, supervising and evaluating team members.
  • Genuine interest in sports and needs to be passionate about the brand
