Linux System Engineer (m/f/d)

Your workplace can flexibly alternate between your home office and mobile deployments in the Greater Frankfurt area.

Your responsibilities include:

• Server administration and operation: You’ll manage servers and server connections, including clustering and load balancing, using SUSE Linux Enterprise and Red Hat Linux Enterprise.
• Server deployment: You’ll install and operate servers under SUSE Linux Enterprise and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• NGINX servers, proxies, forward proxies, and reverse proxies: You’ll oversee these, such as Artica and Squid, as well as load balancers.
• Application monitoring: You’ll install, configure, and operate ICINGA components for monitoring applications on Windows and Linux servers.
• Web servers and web services: You’ll provide and operate web servers, web services, and web applications, including Apache, TomCat, PHP, CGI, and Java.
• IT security and firewalls: You’ll administer IT security components and firewalls, such as OSSEC, NTLM, Checkpoint, Cisco, SQUID-Proxy, and NGINX.
• Conceptual support: You’ll assist in the design and implementation of web servers, web services, proxies, and firewalls.
• Support and incident management: You’ll provide first and second-level support for operational components within the framework of incident, problem, change, and release management following ITIL/ITSM.
• Backup and recovery: You’ll be responsible for backup and recovery tasks in the operational environment.
• Documentation: You’ll create, ensure the quality of, and update comprehensive documentation and operation manuals.

What you should bring:

• Completed IT training (e.g., IT specialist for system integration) or an IT-related degree.
• At least three years of experience in server administration and operation under SUSE Linux Enterprise or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience in the design, administration, and operation of web servers and web services, including Apache and TomCat.
• Experience in the design and management of web service environments using NGINX servers or (reverse/forward) proxies and load balancers like Artica and Squid.
• Experience in the design and management of IT security and firewalls, including OSSEC, NTLM, Checkpoint, Cisco, SQUID-Proxy, and NGINX.
• Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation and operation manuals.
• Experience in applying incident, problem, change, and release management processes following ITIL/ITSM.
• Fluent in written and spoken German and English.
