The University of Freiburg invites applications for the

Junior professorship for Pure Mathematics,
with a focus in Algebraic and Arithmetic Geometry

at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in the Department ofMathematics to be filled by April 2024.

This is a grade W1-professorship to which performance payments can be offered.

This professorship is suitable for highly qualified researchers a few years after the PhD. Conditions governing the appointment in accordance with section 51 (3) LHG apply.

We are looking for an independent research personality with the following profile:

• Specialisation in arithmetic or algebraic geometry, or a neighbouring area like e.g., geometric representation theory, complex geometry or applications of model theory in number theory and algebraic geometry

• A clear perspective for collaboration with one or more of the existing research groups in Algebra or Mathematical Logic in the Department of Mathematics

• For the future, we hope for contributions to joint third party funded projects, as well as for activities in the frame work of Eucor - The European Campus, in particular with the groups in Basel and Straßburg.

Prerequisites for the employment are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record.

This position is a fixed term of four years. After a successful interim evaluation, it will be extended by two years.
