THE ROLE & THE TEAM

We are currently looking for an International Payroll Manager to join our P&O team. You will be responsible for all global Payroll matters and execution of monthly payrolls. Working within a small but passionate People Team, you’ll have the scope and autonomy to implement initiatives across our entity countries with regard to improving Payroll processes and procedures. Also seen as a benefit of this role, you will have the opportunity to give focus to high touch topics such as equity, benefits and compensation, accounting and tax. In addition, Zalando’s People & Organisation department is looking to evolve our International Mobility function for which you would have a great opportunity to implement new processes and generally be an owner and a driver of the Global Mobility Payroll. You will have a unique opportunity to advise on and facilitate various types of working arrangements in the mobility world - such as international and cross-border setups, and provide support to the business unit stakeholders and new hires.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You ensure a great payroll experience for all our employees by preparing the monthly payroll for our international entities, and by providing data to our vendors and stakeholders.
  • You ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll, accounting reporting, including resolving questions, queries and reconciling discrepancies.
  • You manage our payroll vendors and banking tools to process the payments. This includes working with third-party vendors (ADP, Deloitte, PwC, etc) to ensure efficient operations and better solutions. .
  • You will be an advisor for our mobility team in reviewing existing policies and advise on creating better processes for our executive cross border commuters
  • You are the reliable contact person for cross functional teams, mainly HR, Finance, Accounting, Tax
  • You will assist in statutory external audits annually as needed
  • You take part in interesting projects and initiatives with our payroll team and our People teams

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have 3-5 years of practical payroll experience, a solid knowledge of International Payroll (cross border payroll, shadow payroll, etc.) is greatly preferred
  • You have experience with the ’classical’ payroll setup of using 3rd party providers.
  • You are familiar with tools, portals of a wide variety (ADP Streamline, SAP, Workday, fileclouds, Excel, and the like)
  • You have an ability to grasp complex issues, apply logical thinking and to resolve operational issues, while working proactively, independently, and with a sense of ownership.
  • You are happy with quick changes in general, while maintaining standards.
  • You have excellent proficiency in English.
