We’re currently on the lookout for a Fuel Cell Management Calibration & Validation Engineer who will be responsible for the calibration and system validation of the fuel cell management module s in Nikola’s Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle platform . This lead engineer will be integral in the optimization of the power management from the fuel cell as well as calibration of the hydrogen storage control module . As a member of Nikola’s Calibration & Validation team , you will have broad influence throughout the entire project while disrupting the status quo as we secure a zero-emissions future with our hydrogen fuel cell electric, class 8 semi-truck.

You Will
  • Develop calibration sets for the fuel cell (FC) ECUs to meet system specifications and performance objectives
  • Evaluate system level performance of the FC ECUs in various environments and conditions
  • Manage test case coverage and acceptance criteria for the FC ECUs to meet vehicle level validation release
  • Support validation and verification activities as needed to bring the FC ECUs from component prototype to vehicle road release for production
  • Track V&V progress to functions and features requirements.
  • Execute vehicle integration, design reviews, and related documentation
  • Contribute to the development of Nikola fuel cell electric vehicle technology by participating in both control design workshops and DFMEAs
  • Apply industry and experience-based standards and best practices to the design of Nikola truck vehicle portfolio
  • Travel as needed for development and validation efforts
You Have
  • Bachelor of Science in Elec t rical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computers Science or a related engineering degree
  • 3+ years related experience in automotive ECU validation, integration & diagnostics preferably in fuel cell management .
  • Class 8 truck and/or electric vehicle experience highly desirable
  • Capable of applying root cause analysis to bring complex problems to resolution
  • Experience in leveraging data collection and analysis for system calibration to optimize vehicle performance and functionality
  • Experience and understanding of project timeline for electric vehicle design, engineering and test, and development programs
  • Experience in coordinating technical discussions between multi-disciplinary vehicle teams and developing well integrated and balanced solutions across different vehicle systems
  • Strong working e xperience with Vector CANalyzer, PCAN, or other relevant CAN analysis tools is required
  • Experience with system calibration of power management system ideally within the fuel cell technology
  • Experience using test and measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, single ended probes, differential probes, multimeters, amp meters, spectrum analyzers etc.
  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA, JAMA, etc.
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety experience is a plus
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
