Frontend Engineer (React) for Retail Platform - Retail Core

Retail Core is one of the core departments in Zalando. We ensure that Zalando has the right products at the right time in the right place. We are the ones who buy the products which are then sold to our consumers.

To improve this we permanently optimize our procure-to-pay process. One of the main levers in this optimization is the Retail Center - a one-stop-destination for our suppliers that aims to provide a smooth and seamless integration between our suppliers and buyers/planners.

As an engineer in the Retail Center team, you will build the central component that connects all department components and ensures that Zalando’s store has the right product available at the right time. You will build and own all centralized services for the department and your systems will be used by 1000+ internal users and 2000+ suppliers every day.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• Meet business needs while maintaining scalable architecture and keeping dependable consistency of business objects
• Own the whole development cycle - from architecture design to implementation and testing and as well as the maintenance of our products
• Work together with the developers, UX, product-management and other teams to provide the best experience for our customers
• Be part of the team that creates and maintains our business component frontend library for whole Retail Core

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 3+ years of experience in dedicated frontend projects with modern frameworks React. Experience in ECMAScript, HTML5, SCSS and modern stack like Babel, Webpack
• Ability to write well formatted, structured and clean code and comfortably work with backend and DevOps technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
• Interest in backend software development, data and APIs are plus
• Enthusiasm for direct and frequent interaction with the users and interest in discovering opportunities collaborating closely with UX, Product and other colleagues
