The Tax Senior Analyst – Germany will provide support for regional tax compliance, reporting and planning responsibilities and will assist with regional tax examinations by developing defense strategies and maximizing tax saving opportunities. This role will contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax compliance and reporting obligations.

The Tax Senior Analyst – Germany is a member of the global tax group and reports to Sr. Director, Global Tax Operations

Tasks
  • Tax Return Compliance:
  • Prepare tax returns using approved software.
  • Review tax filings prepared by an outside service provider to ensure the accurate reporting of income taxes.
  • Preparation of the working papers used by the tax service providers to prepare the tax filings.
  • Assist in the compilation of data for completing the tax returns
  • Identify, research and evaluate alternative tax positions in order to determine and implement a supportable, cost effective filing position for the tax return filings.
  • Manage the timely and efficient administration of information assimilation and reporting through the review of processes and implementation of procedures that enhance speed and efficiency of administration.
  • Financial Reporting –Review of annual tax provision and tax provision to return reconciliation to be recorded and submitted for global consolidation. This may require coordination efforts between information from outside tax return service providers and the internal finance organization.
  • Planning Activities – Collaborate with business units to proactively identify and research tax planning opportunities. Assist the EMEA regional Tax team in implementing structural and non-structural tax planning strategies which maximize tax savings on a defensible basis. Evaluate the tax effect and implications of business strategies, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to properly advise management.
  • Tax Audits and Controversies – Assist in responding to requests for information from tax government officials to successfully defend tax filing positions. Interact with current and former business groups to coordinate and implement audit strategies. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry positions in order to accurately evaluate options and responses to requests for information.
  • Process Improvement - Utilization of appropriate technology tools (Corptax, Alteryx, Tableau & OneSource), and the adoption of standard methodologies in the completion of tax projects.
  • Legislative Activities – Monitor industry positions relevant to Honeywell’s business operations.
Requirements
  • Broad technical knowledge of regional tax laws and regulations- including exposure to foreign affiliate legislation.
  • Understand US GAAP Financial Accounting.
  • Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ideal candidate will be a CPA and completion of an In-Depth Tax course
  • A minimum of 5 years directly related and progressively responsible tax experience.
  • Big Four/large accounting firm experience desired.
