We are looking for an outstanding Software Engineer for Medical Imaging who will be working with a top-notch multi-disciplinary team to develop medical imaging algorithms as well as surgical imaging and vision software for our digital surgery platform. The engineer will be creating applications that apply registration, segmentation, and computer vision algorithms on pre- and intra-operative data, that fuse multi-modal images, and visualize the results in real-time to the surgeon that is operating. Additionally, they will be working together with people from the graphical user interface team to give highly specialized surgeons the best user experience possible. The engineer focuses on the technical and clinical aspects of surgical imaging for minimally invasive surgery. This is their chance to apply your skills to the topic that is going to transform minimally invasive procedures most in the near future, surgical robotics! Our team’s work directly influences the development of our robot platform and the widespread adoption of surgical robotics in medicine.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop medical imaging algorithms as well as surgical imaging and vision software
  • Investigate, prototype, and refine multi-modal image fusion and real-time vision applications
  • Participate in a work environment that fosters creativity and encourages the best from your team and others

Qualifications
  • 5-6 years of experience working on medical imaging, computer vision software, or equivalent software systems
  • Proficient in C++
  • Experience with code repositories (e.g. Git), handling code reviews, and writing unit tests.
  • Ability to come up with custom software solutions to solve new problems
  • Solid understanding of software concepts
  • Ability to balance multiple, complex projects - often under tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (first language, bilingual, or technical conversation)

Preferred
  • Advanced degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, or related fields
  • Education/Training/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience with medical device software development
  • Experience with OpenCV, OpenGL, VTK/ITK, Matlab
  • Expertise in computer vision, development of medical devices, image processing on the GPU, graphical user interfaces
  • Proven background in image processing
  • Shareable coding samples that demonstrate programming ability
