The DESY group "Information Technology" (IT) is contributing to a large variety of national and European projects, evaluating new and innovative IT technologies, two of which are the Photon Neutron focused ExPaNDS project and CREMLINPlus, a project fostering European-Russian scientific and technical collaboration in the field of research infrastructures. Both projects share the understanding of the importance of well-defined scientific data management and that data analysis workflows need to be made easier to use for scientists and share across European and Russian Research Infrastructures, so that Open Science can become mainstream in academia.

About your role:
  • Supporting scientists in building modern, cloud-based analysis workflows
  • You will co-develop tools for managing scientific data and meta-data under the consideration of the FAIR Data Principles
  • Supporting workpackage leaders of the H2020 ExPaNDS and CREMLINPlus projects in writing reports and organizing conferences and workshops

About you:
  • You have completed a master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or related subjects or comparable knowledge
  • You have good knowledge in designing and setting up modern cloud infrastructures, like OpenStack, Kubernetes and similar
  • You have knowledge in handling and analyzing scientific data and meta-data
  • You have knowledge in organizing geographically distributed international teams
  • Basic knowledge of Photon or Neutron science would be of advantage
  • You are a team player, like traveling and enjoy working in large international teams
