Regional Sales Engineer – Oxford Instruments, Bitplane, Germany

The Opportunity

Oxford Instruments, Bitplane, the world’s leading interactive microscopy image analysis software company, is looking for a highly motivated Regional Sales Engineer to join our team of experts in the key technologies such as 3D microscopy, image restoration, visualization, and analysis.

The primary purpose of the Regional Sales Engineer (RSE) is to develop new business for Bitplane’s IMARIS 3D/4D advanced image analysis software by providing information on the product and solutions to customers’ key endpoints. Further the RSE should help cross selling with Andor microscopy systems (BC43, Dragonfly) and jointly present a full imaging solution in North-West Germany and Scandinavia.

The successful candidate will work with researchers in leading universities and industries to advance their image analysis capabilities and understanding of their area of interest.

We are looking for a candidate who can build trustworthy relationship with the customer, can think strategically and be active online as well as out in the field.

Key Responsibilities For The Regional Sales Engineer
  • Meet/Exceed agreed individual quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Support the sales objectives by researching customers’ image analysis needs and providing solutions in a professional and effective manner.
  • Demonstration of the software and onsite work with the customer by organizing presentations and workshops.
  • Develop new business relationships within the defined territory and strengthen existing customer relationships.
  • Follow-up on all sales opportunities within a timely manner.
  • Find BC43 microscope opportunities and close them with application support.
  • Contribute to sales campaigns to increase productivity and sales.
  • Continually compile market information/intelligence on dedicated regions with a view to providing market feedback to assist in the shaping of future product development and company strategy.
  • Represent and promote Bitplane/Andor in a professional manner at trade shows and conferences within the designated regions.
  • Maintain all sales related record in the CRM system and effectively manage projects to accurately forecast for the territory. Regularly attend weekly/monthly sales meetings and offer feedback and suggestions to improve product solutions.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by your line manager.
About You

The Regional Sales Engineer will ideally have the following skills and attributes:

Education / Qualifications:

Essential
  • BSc degree or equivalent in life sciences.
  • 2 years hands on experience with confocal microscopes.
  • 3 years hands on experience in a life science laboratory.
Desirable
  • Hands on experience with 3D image analysis software.
  • PhD or equivalent in life sciences.
  • Direct knowledge of grant/funding cycles procedures.
Professional Skills/ Abilities:

Essential
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a sales role.
  • Experience in selling or supporting technical and high-value products.
  • Strong background in life science techniques, applications and markets.
  • Business development skills.
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficiency in the use of the PC/Mac.
  • Fluent in English and preferably in German.
Desirable
  • International sales experience in confocal, wide field, live-cell imaging and advanced image analysis.
  • Experience with sales via distributors and VARs.
  • Sales experience in microscopy market.
Personal Qualities:
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills which are adapted to customers with varied levels of expertise.
  • Well-developed presentation skills both one-on-one and in front of a large group of audience.
  • Excellent customer relationship management and ability to build good business relationships across a wide variety of cultures and personalities.
  • Ability to develop conceptual ideas of customers into product sales.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and pleasant personality.
