Job Description
The Heilbronn site designs and tests ICs for the automotive market, including CAN and LIN bus transceivers, motor drivers and car access solutions.
A product engineer in Microchip’ Analog Power and Interface Division (APID) is working in intercultural teams and is responsible for new products from the first silicon on until end of life (EOL). The product engineer is part of the new product development teams and is responsible to carry out the validation and characterization of new products across process, voltage and temperature corners and publish reports for cross-functional team reviews. This includes the development of bench test concepts together with hardware setups for manual and automated bench testing as well as the analysis and the comparison of bench and production test data. The creation of qualification plans based on the appropriate standards and the design of the qualification hardware are also part of the job as much as driving continuously yield and quality improvements and developing cost reduction projects on released products.
The duties include:
- Prepare validation, characterization, qualification and material control plans
- Validate and characterize new silicon according to the plans and prepare the appropriate reports
- Design of validation and qualification hardware
- Participate in new product development teams and track project progress
- Analysis and assessment of all product specification relevant data, create and share the reports with the different teams
- Ensure devices are manufacturable and are correctly setup in the production and quality systems.
- Monitor product yields to identify and implement cost effective manufacturing improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement activities for new product development and sustaining projects.
- Interact effectively with the worldwide teams in design, manufacturing, and quality.
Job Requirements
MANDATORY SKILLS:
- BSEE or MSEE
- understanding of analog circuit concepts
- Lab skills and hands-on experience with lab equipment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Familiar with statistical data analysis
- Ability to work with various groups located in all parts of the world and flexibility to travel for production and qualification support
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools.
- German and English language fluently
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with multiple program languages, preferably Labview, C/C++, MATLAB, LUA and Verilog or VHDL.
- Experience with LIN/CAN devices and knowledge of LIN and CAN ISO specs is a plus.
