ERM is seeking a leader with expertise in permitting and environmental/social impact assessment (ESIA) topics to join us as a Partner in our Capital Projects Delivery team in Germany. This role can be based in our Frankfurt office or other cities where ERM has a presence in the country.Overview
Since established in 1989, ERM Germany has enjoyed steady growth and now employs over 150 people based across multiple locations. Throughout the years, ERM Germany has built a good reputation in the environmental services market and our Capital Projects Delivery (CPD) team has been delivering technically challenging environmental and social impact studies for some of the largest infrastructure projects in Germany. This team has more than tripled its size in the past 15 years and we work with a wide range of clients including domestic companies, large German and European banks, international lending organisations and corporate clients, supporting them with key decisions on project financing and green-field development investments.
Ideal candidates will enjoy working in a truly client focused, international and collaborative environment and flat structure. You will have a track record of building a successful Permitting & ESIA business and will have passion for people development. He/she will be a strong champion of safe working environment for staff, sub-contractors and clients.
Role profile
As a Partner, you will be responsible for commercial growth for the CPD services in Germany, working with existing clients and wining new business. You will lead technical delivery to ensure service excellence under our Partner in Charge (PiC) system of project management and direction.
In Germany, we work with major players in the power / transmission market and this person will be managing the most prominent projects in this sector, developing existing client relationship whilst further diversifying our client base in other market segments such as (not limited to) rail and road infrastructure, nuclear power and so on. Our go-to-market model enables our Partners to build longer-term, deep relationship with clients and he/she will have the opportunity to work with the multi-disciplinary team to support our clients’ full asset life cycle. Our consultants firmly believe in service excellence and this person will be working with a high performing team who are client focused throughout the project lifecycle.
This exciting and challenging position will require a well-balanced individual capable of delivering the following key objectives:
- Build client relationship focusing on the business outcome which our clients want to achieve in the medium and long term whilst being keenly aware of and adapt to changing market conditions
- Prepare and execute the annual business plan and drive sales, P&L and cash flow for the services; create a sales pipeline with the potential to build year-on-year work that ensures sustainable bottom line growth
- Technically creating strategies and implementing projects to support clients through the planning and feasibility phases of capital projects; works might involve the following:
- Project feasibility, siting, routing and planning; environmental, social, health & sustainability impact assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and management; studies, modelling and field surveys; social performance strategy, planning and implementation; stakeholder / public engagement; GIS, data management, information graphics
- Mainly focused on the German markets with opportunities to work on international projects
- As the business develops there will be future opportunity to work on projects in the areas of: resettlement strategy, planning and implementation; project and regulatory permitting/approvals; equator principles and IFC performance standards compliance;
