Job Description

The SiC (silicon carbide) Stack Team is a group of engaged R&D engineers seated in the Danfoss Silicon Power Ismaning branch north of Munich. The teams’ mission is to provide technology development and engineering services for the creation of novel SiC modules and stacks. (Where in Danfoss terminology, a “stack” is a modular assembly of power electronics that is integrated by our customers into their applications.) These stacks are primarily used in various industrial applications like wind and solar converters, electrolyzers, battery chargers for stationary applications and heavy-duty vehicles, and many more.

To strengthen the team, Danfoss is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer(m/w/d) - SiC Stack Team

Job Responsibilities

In this role you are in charge of the mechanical design of full the power converter assembly (Stack) including the cooling design and the thermal simulation comprising air and fluid cooled heatsinks. Additionally, the detailed mechanical design of all structural components and optimizations regarding e.g., total material cost, manufacturability, stability are part of your tasks as well as the design and testing of 3D printed (prototype) components. You also prepare (prototype) manufacturing drawings and component sourcing.

Background & Skills

For this role you hold a master level degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Additionally, We Are Looking For
  • Experience with designing and prototyping assemblies preferably related to electrical systems
  • Good understanding of air and fluid cooling preferably applied to power electronics.
  • Experience with designs respecting clearance and creepage to fulfill electrical isolation requirements is a plus.
  • Very good communication skills and positive attitude, with understanding for project execution in a multinational environment
  • Fluent English language skills, German skills are a plus
