Purpose Of Work

The Innovation Engineer will lead operational development projects of our Home, Building & Construction segments, identifying product alternatives to drive growth opportunities beyond our current product portfolio.

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Leading and moderate innovation Workshops with suppliers, customers and partners.
  • Leading new product development projects through the Stage Gate process and leading cross-divisional project teams.
  • Development of product concepts based on real market requirements in cooperation with internal and external partners.
  • Identify growth opportunities and new product solutions.
  • Technical management of the development tests of coatings and polymer films.
  • Ensuring and maintaining an adequate level of knowledge about technical trends within the industry.
  • Identify patent opportunities and support the patent filing process.
Leadership Function
  • The incumbent of this role must possess cross-functional team leadership abilities, which also reflect our kp Leadership Qualities.
Knowledge
  • Master’s degree in process engineering in the field of plastics technology or comparable.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in polymer, plastics engineering, materials science, chemical engineering or a related field.
  • A combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
  • Basic knowledge in polymer processing, especially in film production.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry and physics.
  • Alternatively, at least 5 years of experience as process engineer or similar in plastic film -operations or use in the industry.
Functional/technical Skills
  • Creativity in solving technical problems and critical thinking.
  • Ability to think strategically from a business perspective.
  • Possess sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in German and English.
Experience
  • Project management experience leading cross-functional teams from concept to commercialization.
  • Experience with analytical tests according to prescribed standards (e.B. ASTM, ISO) and with the development of new test methods.
  • Experience in polymer processing, especially in the extrusion of polymer films and coatings/ laminations.
  • Experience with Six Sigma+Lean (Greenbelt) is an advantage.
Competences
  • Language skills - English required; German beneficial.
  • Experience in the use of standard software (MS Office, SAP) is an advantage.
