We have an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated sales professional, able to inspire the team and drive growth in the business at a global level.

The Global Business Development Manager (Rail) will be responsible for growing sales and profitability for our Fluid & Motion Control solutions across the global rail market segment. This role will lead the development of key and strategic accounts, organic growth programs, solutions and product portfolio improvements alongside the product management team.

This position will indirectly lead more than 20 resources globally, working closely with our regional sales teams to implement new strategies, provide technical and application expertise, and champion the overall growth plan.

If you have a passion for technology, a drive for success and are eager to work with a worldwide engineering leader, we encourage you to join us!
In this role you will:
  • Build, develop and supervise organic growth initiatives to drive profitable sales growth across the rail segment globally.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the market – trends, dynamics, participation, growth expectations – in order to spot competitor trends and develop/implement plans to stay in front.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in channel, product portfolio, sales coverage, service capabilities, etc.
  • Actively work with sales leadership and regional teams to develop the global network of rail specialists, new channels and key accounts, expand the opportunity funnel and work with local colleagues to close opportunities.
  • Champion the rail business both internally and externally – provide tools and training material to make it easier for others to sell and lead marketing campaigns that amplify our message and presence.
  • Report-out regularly on progress related to growth initiatives, orders/sales performance, and profitability.
  • Lead customer projects, when opportunities exist, involving functions and departments across Fluid & Motion Control and Emerson to win more business.

For this role you will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or business required; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in marketing, sales or business development in an industrial business-to-business environment.
  • Strong technical awareness of solutions and customer applications; experience in the rail market and/or pneumatic/fluid power applications are particularly advantageous.
  • Growth-focused, self-starter demeanor; able to achieve results with minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to empower others.
  • Ability to thrive in a matrix-based organization.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Openness to travel globally as needed (30% of the working time).
