KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA is looking for a business-driven European Patent Attorney as anExpert IP Europe (m/f/d) with a focus on Life Sciences & Biotech.

This position is permanent and on a full-time basis.

The place of work is Berlin or in our HQ in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Your Tasks - Challenge meets Responsibility:

As a KWS Expert IP Europe, you will:

• Provide intellectual property (IP) expertise and leadership to the KWS Group in order to expand and maintain a robust and cost-balanced IP portfolio
• Lead & manage complex IP matters and IP-related transactions in an independent manner, assuring high-quality results
• Develop and implement IP protection strategies and IP positions with a special focus on Europe
• Accompany projects from ideation to product commercialization in order to identify IP generation opportunities and then steer patent prosecution and efficient maintenance in line with business needs
• Establish and assess Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) for R&D, Breeding and Business operations
• Functionally supervise KWS IP Managers who are in the process of becoming European Patent Attorneys
  

Your Profile – Competence meets Personality:

A KWS Expert IP Europe has:

• An MS or Ph.D. degree in life sciences, biology, agronomy, or plant breeding or in a comparable course of study
• Qualification as a European Patent Attorney; having a German Patent Attorney qualification is a plus
• Extensive professional experience as a business-focused Intellectual Property professional (m/f/d) in the industry or in private practice
• Leadership skills paired with excellent communication and collaboration skills
• An excellent command of English (written and spoken); German or Spanish language skills are an asset
