Jobinhalt

HeidelbergCement is reinventing the way cement is produced for the digital age. We are thus looking for a data scientist who is passionate about digital transformation in the industry. The ideal candidate can work independently in the Python data ecosystem and is open to contribute to other software stacks.

We work in small cross-functional product teams aiming to make the production of cement more effective and sustainable by providing data-driven tools for process optimization and prediction to our plants. We deliver end-to-end solutions from initial data analysis to production-ready applications. We believe in open-source and embrace opportunities to give back contributions to the community (e.g. HCrystalBall). If you are eager to tackle difficult challenges and make an impact in an international company undergoing a massive digital transformation, you have to look no further.

Your next challenge

  • Employ a mix of statistical data analysis, classical algorithms and machine learning to solve real-world business problems
  • Handle a broad range of tasks from process analysis to implementation to help create data driven products
  • Work together with stakeholders, product owners and other team members from various technical backgrounds to deliver high-quality solutions that help improve our business
  • Build a solid working knowledge of the cement production process and material properties
  • Communicate and visualize non-trivial insights in an understandable manner
  • Be pro-active, persistent and eager to deliver a great solution for a given problem

Your profile

  • Ability to map a business process to a data model and/or an algorithmic description
  • Ability to consider the pros and cons of different technical approaches based on effort/value
  • Ability to define, design and develop data pipelines and machine learning models
  • Experience with production-grade Python applications, including testing, dependency management, versioning and deployment
  • Excellent command of the main components of the Python data ecosystem (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, …)
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL
  • Great team player
  • Ability to communicate complex matters in an understandable way to both technical and non-technical audience
  • Basic experience with web technologies (TCP, Rest, JSON, Websockets, …)
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a data science role or related
  • Experience with modeling and optimization of physical / chemical engineering systems is helpful but not mandatory

We are convinced that only those who successfully realize their personal goals can also fully contribute professionally. That’s why we offer you attractive benefits, such as:
