Position Summary:
The Business Director will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic growth plan to drive revenue and profitability for the Performance Colorants & Ingredients business unit across Asia. This role will report to the Senior Vice President of the Performance Colorants & Ingredients Platform and will engage consistently with the global business leadership team to build a regional growth strategy that is aligned with their global growth plans. Key activities supporting this critical function will include:
Key Responsibilities:
Develop business plans in line with the company’s long-term strategy, vision, and purpose; Lead, monitor and support all business activities to ensure achievement of financial and strategic objectives Drive business growth across an array of product, customer, and market channels. Support regional commercial teams to drive growth. Develop, execute, and continually monitor communication programs and field visits with the salesforce. Communicate strategy, tactics, value propositions, and training to help obtain the desired revenue goals. Support and actively participate in the key account management process. Coordinate directly with commercial, technical, and operations teams to make portfolio and product decisions, develop business cases for new investments, respond to customer requests, and execute contracts to support the product lines. Develop and motivate a cohesive management team to ensure continuity of effective management in to meet short and long- term objectives; set appropriate targets and conduct performance reviews for subordinates in sales, marketing, business development, applications development, and technical service. Work with internal R&D and market development resources and partners to develop innovative and meaningful solutions that expand the suite of offerings, drive customer value, and create opportunities for revenue growth Develop and implement regional pricing strategies. Manage price, internal cost analysis, and regional product portfolio to maximize revenue and profitability. Own and actively pursue pricing strategy in line with business and product line Strategic Plans Generate revenue forecasts, monitor actual versus planned performance, control gross margin , and work with purchasing and supply chain to monitor raw material supply, production and inventory levels. Initiate corrective action as necessary. Coordinate with the (global) internal supply chain, regulatory, sourcing and manufacturing teams to develop an appropriate strategy and tactical plan to support regional growth.
Significant domestic and international travel is envisioned to support the above activities.
Ability to travel >50% of the time
Highly visible role towards senior management with strong upside potential for the successful candidate.
Qualifications:
Experienced leader with a track record of developing and implementing strategic growth plans in a business-to-business environment
A high energy leader, with experience achieving results while working with global, cross functional teams in a growth environment
External bias, with experience interviewing customers and other experts in the market to uncover key insights required to develop sound marketing strategies Ability to function in a matrix organization, obtaining alignment with functional support groups and other peers Know how to be strategic with value proposition positioning and drive to meet financial targets Experience using advanced statistics and financial tools to build strategy frameworks and decision models Strong commercial, technical, strategic and leadership capabilities Proven track record of building a team Experience presenting business or investment cases to senior leadership Fluent reading/writing/speaking English; Mandarin is preferred.
Qualifications Preferred:
10+ years’ professional work experience, with expertise in marketing, business development, or sales preferred
At least 5 years leading a cross-functional team
Experience in the specialty chemical, polymer, CPG(Consumer Packaged Goods), Polyurethane or coatings industry MBA preferred
Technical background is preferred
Excellent communication skills
Experience with acquisitions, specifically building the business case and integration
