We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assembly Supervisor (m/f/d) at our European headquarter in Mainz-Mombach, Germany. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team in a fast-paced and high growth business. You will function as a part of the team managing our new production facility that is currently under construction.

Position Summary:

The Assembly Supervisor coordinates with the Production team to ensure production goals are met and the Assembly staff is working efficiently. You will be constantly troubleshooting production issues that pop up and working with leadership and co-workers to solve them. Commitment to daily demonstration of excellence in accuracy and the ability to mentor production staff are essential to success in this position. This is a full-time supervisory level position on the production floor and reports to the Production Manager.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Maintain a safe workplace, ensure proper reporting and management of safety issues per company guidelines considering also legal requirements
  • Ensure effective employee relations by providing employee coaching and development and resolve employee issues through problem resolution
  • Ensure proper training and reporting of employee performance (quality and output) based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas and work to continuously improve all areas
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to the Production Manager
  • Maintain proper inventory levels necessary for production
  • Manage department priorities and delegate when needed
  • Hold regular and effective annual reviews with all Production staff, excluding frames and small parts
  • Ensure proper procedures and documentation are used for any corrective action with personnel
  • Ensure timely and appropriate escalation of issues to the production manager or HR staff
  • Ensure movement of personnel matches the required daily output
  • Maintain accurate project list for tracking and reporting department improvements, issues and projects
  • Ad hoc support to help set up the new production site
Competencies & Requirements:
  • You have successfully completed a degree - preferably production technology / mechanical engineering - or a comparable education.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a fast-paced production or assembly environment
  • 2+ years of experience managing a large team (>20 people)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to troubleshoot and recommend solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Positive and calm demeanor
  • Knowledge of bicycle mechanics is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of SAP S4 is preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated – able to accomplish tasks and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, comprehend and explain documents in English and German. Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English and German
