A Museum Experience for the Modern World, in 2010 Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm and in late 2019 opened its newest outpost in NYC’s Flatiron District. These locations are complemented by expansion in Tallinn, and our forthcoming museums in Berlin, Shanghai, and Miami. Fotografiska showcases the greatest photographers, whether they’re emerging artists or already established internationally.


Slated to open in 2023, Fotografiska Berlin is located at Oranienburger Strasse 60 inside a unique historic and cultural landmark and home to an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, and exceptional dining experiences. Housing 5,500 square meters, the architects Herzog & de Meuron have been assigned to carry out renovations to the cultural heritage site.

Responsibilities


Fotografiska Berlin’s Communications Manager will be a crucial contributor to the establishment of the Fotografiska brand in Berlin. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Communications Manager will guide and create many of the internal and external communications for Fotografiska Berlin. The role will be instrumental in supporting the management and execution of new and ongoing engagement with the Museum’s audiences.


  • Develop and coordinate communications campaigns, tools, systems, and best practices to support FGBerlin’s integrated marketing, press and PR, and communications efforts across web, social, email, and other channels; work with the global Brand Marketing team for ongoing communications updates to web, social and other owned channels
  • Draft and implement communication materials surrounding major brand moments and launches, as well as Fotografiska Berlin profiling and speaking opportunities
  • Work closely with our external PR agencies and support PR plans via advice from the CultureWorks and Fotografiska Communications and Leadership teams
  • Create necessary communication content including press releases, press newsletters, and related marketing materials
  • Supporting the building and management of a central interdisciplinary editorial framework feeding into communications channel ecosystem
  • Work closely with our internal teams (Exhibitions, Marketing, Programming, Membership, and Partnership, etc.) to ensure brand messaging is consistent across the organization
  • Prepare detailed media activity reports
  • Work closely with the Fotografiska Berlin team to build a calendar of submissions for awards and speaking engagements
  • Support with the organization of press materials for Fotografiska Berlin brand
  • Contribute, from a point of Communications expertise, when required, to marketing campaigns and other growth initiatives from start to finish, including strategy, strategic messaging, and creative campaign ideation, all the way through to execution and analysis
  • Build genuine and authentic rapport with the communities Fotografiska endeavors to engage and support in Berlin using the overall Fotografiska communications strategies and communications guidelines
  • Put our values and equity into every interaction, communication, and marketing touch point; informed by a variety of global cultural outputs, hospitality, the arts, and emerging tastemakers, our marketing team is committed to turning out best-in-class campaigns for all audiences

Requirements:

  • 5+ years working in PR, marketing, or journalism
  • Fotografiska is committed to supporting career opportunities for folks from a varied set of educational and professional experiences. While a background in the hospitality or arts + culture industries may be helpful for the role, we are open to applicants from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Experience in communications, press and PR, culture marketing, influencer relationships, network management, etc.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills - Fotografiska may ask for candidates to submit writing samples or complete a writing assessment as part of application or interview
  • An understanding of the cultural calendars for Berlin and other major international cities, with an ability to track respective holidays, major art fairs, fashion weeks, etc.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Outlook and Microsoft 365 environment
  • Strong social media skills and ability to use analytics tools
  • Participation in culture - must regularly attend and/or demonstrate curiosity about gallery and museum openings, live music, culinary arts, editorial publications, fashion shows, web3 innovation, current events, etc.
